Wayne Welborn

Wayne Welborn holds the priesthood office of Evangelist, having been ordained by the Community of Christ to this office in 2005.  Prior to his responsibilities as an Evangelist, Wayne also ministered in the offices of Priest, Elder, and Seventy.

Through his ministerial career (so far), Wayne has held a number of church leadership roles, including:

  • Church Planter (led, assisted, or consulted in 5 new church plantings)
  • Director St. Louis Stake Missionary Outreach Committee (multiple years)
  • Conducted Training/Workshops throughout East Central States Region and St. Louis Stake on Evangelism, Personal Witnessing, Congregational Vision Casting, Assimilating New Members, Marketing Your Congregation, and many others in (16 years)
  • Mentor for other Seventy and Missionary Elders (12 years)
  • Pastor for  3 Congregations (15 years)
  • Associate Pastor in 6 Congregations (10 years)
  • Congregational Outreach Leader (multiple years)
  • Congregational Youth Leader (multiple years)
  • Sunday School Director (multiple years)
  • Congregational Worship Leader (multiple years)

Wayne is married to Cathy, who is a Registered Nurse and Hospice Nurse.  They have 6 children: Josh , Tiffany, Matt, Brad, Beth, Lauren.  Wayne's father is Evangelist Dan Welborn and stepmother Marietta.  His mother is Marie Peavy and stepfather Seventy A.V. Peavy.  Evangelist Sid Faulkner is Wayne's uncle.

Wayne is currently serving the Maryville IL Congregation in the roles of Associate Pastor and Worship Leader, as well as being a traveling minister.

His community activities revolve around family, church, work,  more church, and more work.

Wayne has been recognized a few times within his communities, "God deserves the credit."

Wayne holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications w/Business Minor, has 20 years of management and director level experience in business, a lifetime of missionary and pastoral experience, a respectable number of Temple School Courses, many years at Camp LaDaSa, and a Master's Degree from the School of Hard Knocks and Dumb Mistakes.

His ministry has taken him all over Illinois and Missouri, and an assortment of preaching series, retreats, camps, reunions, workshops, and church-planting consulting stops spread throughout Arkansas, California, Florida, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Ohio and Tennessee.

Wayne's favorite quote is, "Where there's a will there's a way."

His commitment to proclaiming the good news of  Jesus Christ is summarized in this statement:  "With all my heart, might, mind, and strength, in good times and bad, until every soul on earth comes to a saving knowledge of the Lamb and a transforming relationship with the Lord."
