CATHLEEN CACKLER-VEAZEY
A native of Independence, Missouri, she attended Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa and holds a B.S. in outdoor recreation/education from Indiana University; a M.S. in recreation/leisure studies from Central Missouri State University; and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She also has additional graduate course work in environmental science from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Missouri. Prior to working full-time for the World Church, she worked as a medical social worker at the Independence Regional Health Center and a graduate assistant at Central Missouri State University. Cathi has worked extensively in volunteer programs over the years as an American Red Cross First Aid Instructor, American Camping Association Campcraft and Tripcraft Instructor, East St. Louis Community Camp on the executive board and program director, a Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Abuse hotline/lecturer, Greater Washington, D.C. Hotline volunteer, a Crossroads Temporary Shelter board president, Salvation Army Advisory Board vice chair, and Housing Authority commissioner. Cathi has also served on many church committees, focus teams, and task forces including the Earth Stewardship Committee and the Spectacular Steering Committee. She and her husband Stephen, who is a member of the Council of Twelve Apostles, have three children: Bree, Brady, and Bryce. Cathi's hobbies include painting and various outdoor activities.
