Terry Smith

Terry C. Smith is an Estate and Financial Planning minister for Community of Christ. He holds the priesthood office of evangelist.   A native of Hammond, Indiana, Terry holds a juris doctorate from University of Minnesota Law School; a bachelor of science from Indiana University, Bloomington; and an associates degree from Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa.

           

Prior to his present position, Terry was an attorney in private practice in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He did commercial litigation, real estate, probate, appellate work, business law, wills and estate planning.

Terry is a member of the American Bar Association and various state and county bar associations.

While in the U.S. Navy, he traveled throughout the Western Pacific area, the Hawaiian Islands, and the West Coast of the United States.  Terry has also visited several cities in the Peoples Republic of China as part of a delegation of lawyers studying trade and taxation. 

Terry holds a commercial airplane pilot’s license with multi-engine and instrument ratings, and has over 1300 flight hours.  He is also an experienced sailor and has skippered sailboats up to 44 feet long.

Terry is married to Marilyn (Look) Smith.  They have two children, Michael Phillips and Holly Cook, and three grandchildren.
