Marvin Rice

Marvin J. Rice is a Community of Christ minister in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a member of the World Church Spiritual Formation Team and serves as the Spiritual Formation minister for the Northeast USA mission field. He has been a full-time field minister for the church since March 1, 2000. Marvin’s previous assignments include serving as president of Gateway USA Mission Center and president of St. Louis Stake. |
Prior to accepting church appointment, Marvin served as counselor to the stake president in St. Louis and to the district president in Springfield, Missouri. He also served for a short time as president of the Springfield Missouri District. He has served as pastor of various congregations over a number of years. An adult convert to Community of Christ, Marvin was ordained to the priesthood office of priest in 1975, elder in 1979, and high priest in 1991.
His greatest area of interest is spirituality. Marvin is a certified spiritual director and has served on the Spiritual Formation Team of the World Church since its inception in 1997. In May of 2006, he received a master of arts in religion degree from Community of Christ Seminary.
A native of St. Joseph, Missouri, Marvin is married to Judy (Cook) Rice. They have one daughter, Sarah, who makes her home in Chicago, Illinois.
