Cathy Loving

Cathy Loving was born and raised in Englewood, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, now Community of Christ, shaped her faith from childhood.

She graduated from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and History. She also met her husband, Kim Loving while attending Graceland. They moved to St. Joseph Missouri after Kim finished law school at Kansas University.

During the next 25 years, her husband practiced law, Cathy managed the law office, and their children (a son and daughter) were born.  In the fall of 2000 they closed the law office and Kim took employment with Community of Christ, moving to Kirtland, Ohio where Kim became the church’s executive administrator for northeast Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and western New York area.

Along with traveling with her husband Cathy became a tour guide at the Kirtland Temple and did some first person interpretation of a 1830s church member. In the fall of 2003 the Lovings moved to Independence, Missouri after Kim was diagnosed with cancer. He died that following winter.

Cathy currently works full-time for the Community of Christ as the Independence Visitor Services Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator. Her hobbies are photography, sewing, quilting, and experiencing history.
