Fred Keenan

Fred Keenan, a minister for the Community of Christ, is assigned to Brush Creek Mission Center, financial officer, effective October 1, 2003. He holds the priesthood office of Bishop. Previously, he was as a missionary specialist in Central Illinois District.

Prior to accepting full-time ministry, Keenan served as pastor of his congregation for ten years and was the director for a global food ingredients company. In that position, he piloted an aggressive review of domestic and international manufacturing sites and consolidated quality assurance testing resources. Through his work, he has traveled extensively in Scandinavia, Europe, and the British Isles.

Keenan graduated from Long Island University in 1964 with a B.S. in biology. He later finished an M.S. in industrial management from Polytechnic University in 1972. Community involvement is an important part of Keenan's life. He is a past board member of the United Way in Wabash Valley and co-chaired the steering committee that developed a comprehensive Community Needs Assessment. He has served on the Wabash Valley Community Foundation-Distribution committee and is a active volunteer with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. Keenan has been honored for his community service with the Terre award from the Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded the Solomon award from the United Way for excellence in fund raising and distribution.

Keenan is married to Joyce Guest Keenan, and they have two children and four grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys golf, computers, and reading.
